Health Alert: NJ company expands nationwide ground beef recall (issued Sept 29, 2007)

Topps Meat Company, LLC, an Elizabeth, N J, company, has expanded its Sept. 25 recall to a total of approximately 21.7 million pounds of frozen ground beef products. The recall is being expanded due to
- additional positive products contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 per New York Health Department,
- reported illnesses (Currently there are 25 illnesses under investigation) and
- findings from a food safety assessment conducted at the packing firm

- “SHOP RITE 100% PURE GROUND BEEF HAMBURGERS”
- “TOPPS 100% PREMIUM HAMBURGER”
- “WEST SIDE 100% PREMIUM HAMBURGER”
